Godzilla news for the week of January 2nd, 2020:

 

Playmates Godzilla toys continue to appear at a few Walmart stores in the United States. To date, the following six toys have been sighted:
– Godzilla 2004
– Shin Godzilla
– Space Godzilla
– Destroyah
– Kong
– and another Kong that roars
These toys are not yet widely available. Adult fan reactions range from despondent to disbelief.

Bandai’s Japanese web site is taking pre-orders for a new set of three Mechagodzilla eight inch figures. The set partially depicts the transformation of Fake Godzilla into Mechagodzilla, based on the 1974 movie Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. The set sells for about $160 and will be released in March 2020. At some future date, Bandai will release two more figures, apparently of Fake Godzilla, depicting the beginning of the transformation. Some Walmart stores have put their Jakks Pacific Godzilla King of the Monsters toys on clearance. Each store decides for itself when to move items to clearance, and what the clearance price will be.
